Solo operators do not fail from a lack of apps. They fail from unclosed loops: proposals half-sent, invoices not issued, deep work stolen by Slack. A weekly review is the cheapest operating system upgrade you can buy — free if you steal this agenda.
A 45-minute weekly review (Friday or Sunday)
- Money (10 min) — invoices issued / due / overdue; runway glance; any deposit still outstanding
- Clients (10 min) — who needs a status ping; scope creep flags; kickoffs next week
- Delivery (10 min) — top three outcomes for next week; kill or defer the rest
- Admin (5 min) — ABN/GST flags, receipts parked for bookkeeper, calendar blocks
- Energy (5 min) — what drained you; one boundary for next week
- Hypothesis (5 min) — one experiment for the business (pricing, outreach, product)
Notion shape that survives contact with reality
- A Weekly Review page template with the six headings above
- Linked views: Overdue invoices, Active projects, This-week deep work
- A single “Decision log” database so you stop re-litigating last month’s choices

Protect deep work inside the week
Reviews without calendar teeth are journaling. After the review, place two 90-minute deep work blocks on next week’s calendar before client calls fill the gaps. Track interruptions in a distraction log for two weeks — patterns beat guilt.
